In 1955 Alex Lyle came to Hawkstone as the Club's Professional and Head Green-keeper. Hawkstone's most favourite son is Sandy, the son of Alex & Agnes who, at the age of 12, won his first senior competition, became Open Champion at Royal St. Georges in 1985, won The Masters at Augusta in 1988 and inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2012.
